At a press conference held at Megabox COEX in Seoul on November 25, actress Honey Lee opened up about her experience filming the upcoming comedy film The Guys Upstairs. She described the project as heavily reliant on her co-stars’ chemistry and quick-paced performances, adding that the entire movie was shot indoors without natural light over the span of a month.
“There’s no flashy CGI or fast editing—the actors’ rapport and delivery were everything,” she said. “We had to prepare quickly and carefully to nail the tone and ensemble dynamic.” Lee emphasized that viewers should pay close attention to the characters’ interactions and dialogue, which drive the humor and story forward.
Why it matters
The Guys Upstairs tells the story of two couples—one living upstairs (played by Honey Lee and Ha Jung-woo) and the other downstairs (played by Gong Hyo-jin and Kim Dong-wook)—who come together for an awkward dinner after repeated noise complaints. During filming, Lee revealed she was pregnant with her second child but still performed demanding scenes, including a yoga sequence. The film is set to be released on December 3.
