Top Korean actors Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung, and Woo Do-hwan are joining forces in Disney+’s highly anticipated historical drama Made in Korea. The series was unveiled during the ‘Disney+ Originals Preview 2025’ event held at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, where the cast discussed their roles in this gripping tale set in 1970s Korea.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Woo Min-ho (Inside Men, The Man Standing Next), this marks his first drama series, dramatizing a fictional clash between political ambition and justice in a volatile era. Hyun Bin takes on the role of Baek Ki-tae, a man chasing wealth and power, while Jung Woo-sung plays prosecutor Jang Geon-young, who risks everything to stop him. Woo Do-hwan adds intensity to the mix with a mysterious character that ignites curiosity in the trailer.
Why it matters
Made in Korea is one of the biggest Korean productions in Disney+ history, reportedly costing around 70 billion KRW (approx. $50M USD). The six-episode first season debuts December 24, with a second season planned for 2026. With its star-studded cast, explosive action, and a rich blend of real history and fiction, the drama aims to close out 2025 on a high note for the streaming platform—especially after the underwhelming result of the recent big-budget drama Polaris. Director Woo emphasized that while the story is fictional, it captures intense human emotions rooted in real historical backdrops, drawing comparisons to his previous films. Fans can expect emotional depth, political intrigue, and large-scale action sequences rarely seen in K-content.
