Jo Se-ho Apologizes to Park Mi-sun Over Breast Cancer Party Controversy

Comedian Jo Se-ho offered a heartfelt apology to senior entertainer Park Mi-sun for attending a charity event that sparked backlash over its party-like atmosphere. The event, hosted by W Korea to raise awareness for breast cancer, came under fire for not matching the seriousness of the cause. Jo addressed the controversy head-on during Park’s recent appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block.

Park, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, took a break from broadcasting to undergo cancer treatment. Appearing on TV for the first time in months, she bravely spoke about her chemotherapy journey, noting the physical and emotional toll it has taken. Although Jo originally avoided meeting her due to the sensitive nature of the issue, he used the moment to sincerely apologize. “I wanted to say I’m truly sorry for my recent attendance at that event. I’ve been reflecting a lot on the importance of awareness,” he said.

Background

The controversial W Korea event, ‘Love Your W’, was intended to spotlight breast cancer awareness. However, it drew criticism after being perceived more as a glitzy gathering rather than a fundraising campaign. W Korea later acknowledged the criticism, pledging to revamp its planning process to better align with the campaign’s intentions. Meanwhile, Park Mi-sun has completed 16 sessions of radiation therapy and is now on medication. She candidly revealed the harsh side effects of her treatment, including nerve damage and herpes outbreaks, yet remained hopeful and resilient throughout her story.
