Kwon Hae-hyo, Gong Min-jung & Seo Hyun-woo to Host 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival Ceremonies

Actors Kwon Hae-hyo, Gong Min-jung, and Seo Hyun-woo have been announced as the official hosts for the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival (SIFF) ceremonies. The festival will kick off on November 27 at CGV Apgujeong, with Kwon taking the stage solo for the opening event. He continues his 25-year tradition of hosting the SIFF opening and remains a prominent figure in Korea’s indie film scene.

The closing ceremony, scheduled for December 5, will be led by Gong Min-jung and Seo Hyun-woo, who are teaming up for the fourth consecutive year. The festival will conclude by honoring this year’s top films with awards totaling 127 million KRW (approx. $94,000) in cash and prizes.

Why it matters

Kwon Hae-hyo has played a key role in supporting Korea’s independent cinema by organizing the actor-focused “60-second Monologue Festival” since 2018. He recently earned high praise for his role in Yeon Sang-ho’s indie film “Face,” which topped 1 million viewers despite its low budget. Meanwhile, Gong Min-jung and Seo Hyun-woo have both maintained strong ties with SIFF through multiple featured works and longstanding involvement. Their stable hosting partnership is expected to give SIFF 2025 a memorable send-off.
