‘Taxi Driver 3’ Returns After 2 Years — Lee Je-hoon Promises Powerful Comeback

Two years after its last season, SBS’s hit drama Taxi Driver is making a powerful comeback with its third installment. At a press conference held in Seoul on November 18, lead actor Lee Je-hoon, along with cast members Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, Bae Yoo-ram, and director Kang Bo-seung, shared their excitement and hopes for the new season of the dark hero thriller.

Based on a popular webtoon, Taxi Driver centers around a secret team known as Rainbow Transport, which helps victims take revenge when the legal system fails. Season 1 debuted in 2021, followed by a highly successful season 2 in 2023 that drew ratings of over 21%. Now, season 3 promises even deeper storylines, connected episodes, and stronger emotional arcs. Director Kang, who previously worked as an assistant producer in season 1, takes the lead this time and says he was determined to make each episode contribute to a larger overarching narrative.

Why it matters

Actor Lee Je-hoon, who reprises his role as the vigilante taxi driver Kim Do-gi, admitted he was nervous about living up to past seasons’ success. However, he expressed confidence that the new episodes would deliver satisfying action and emotional depth. Lee teases dramatic new undercover personas, including “Windstorm Do-gi” and the adorably clumsy “Naive Do-gi,” revealing that he gave his all to the early episodes as if it might be his last season.

Cast members also highlighted personal growth and stronger team chemistry. Pyo Ye-jin, who plays tech expert Go Eun, said the scale and performance level have grown noticeably. Meanwhile, Kim Eui-sung and other co-stars reflected on the show’s enduring popularity, which they believe stems from its message of justice when institutions fail. While hints were dropped that this season could mark the end, no official confirmation was given—only the hope that Rainbow Transport continues to resonate with fans.
