Kim Se-eui, head of the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, appeared at the Gangnam Police Station for questioning on November 11 over multiple defamation and insult allegations. The charges mainly come from YouTuber Eun Hyun-jang, who claims Kim damaged his reputation through repeated false statements on air.
This marks Kim’s first official police appearance since the cases were reassigned to a special investigation team. Eun had previously criticized the slow pace of the investigations during a National Assembly hearing, revealing that approximately 16 to 20 complaints had been filed. In response, the police acknowledged delays and reassigned the cases in an effort to accelerate proceedings.
Background
Kim defended himself at the station, arguing that his broadcasts were meant to expose what he called Eun’s false claims of being a “500 billion won tycoon,” and insisting he had not refused to cooperate with the investigation. In a separate ongoing case, Kim also faces charges for spreading rumors about actor Kim Soo-hyun allegedly dating actress Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor. That case continues under a different team as it has already made significant progress.
Police noted that they are currently conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, adding that additional summons may follow depending on the case developments.
